Where is a major league ballpark in which the distance from home plate to the center-field fence and the height of the center field fence require that a ball hit 2 ft? above the ground will necessitate an angle of elevation less than 86 degrees to just clear the center field fence? Assuming that the form of our problem is a right triangle, we can solve for the remaining angle:

180 - (90+86) = 4 degrees

The distance from the home plate to the centerfield is

2/sin 4 = x / sin 86

solve for x

x = 28.60 feet
