so what u do is take -24/8=-3 then u do 4/8=0.5 then u put it together like this -3 - 0.5x =3.5x

Divide -24 by 8 which is -3. So, we have -3-4x/8. The 4x/8 is going to be 1/2x.

Now, the answer is -3-1/2x.
